36 Hours In Shanghai
My fair city got some major love in the Travel section of the New York Times Sunday.  Shanghai was the focus of this week's "36 Hour" column which takes you through a city in 36 hours.  For everyone in America, I do not recommend coming to Shanghai for just 36 hours.  For those in Shanghai, if you can afford this itinerary, you could probably pay to go wherever the hell you want for 36 hours.  In reading the piece, written this week by David Barboza, I realized how different 36 hours in Shanghai are for me than for a New York Times correspondent.  Mr. Barboza seems to make such seamless transitions between places that are nowhere near each other.  No traffic?  No lines?  No getting trapped walking half speed behind four teenage girls locking arms? Come on Barboza, Saturday's a bit of a stretch.  You're not seeing shit in Pudong at 10am if you gotta be in the French Concession by 12.  Who's with me?  The column succeeds in capturing the essence of tourist Shanghai-- lots of drinking and eating, not that much to see.  And this guy did hit the right spots.  To quote David Barboza, "this is China’s financial capital, its fashion center and, clearly, its coolest metropolis."
